FOREWORD

Welcome to the 1997 Global Z Club Directory!  This is the OFFICIAL directory of every Z club on the planet.  Thanks to volunteer information from Z clubs such as yours this directory continues to be a viable source of information.   Without your continued aid in finding every club in the world this directory would fail.  As always this directory is a 'work in progress' due to clubs starting and folding throughout the calendar year.

The registration form for next year can be found on the final page.   Please copy or remove it from this publication next March, fill it out and mail it BEFORE the end of March with information on your club.  Your cooperation is appreciated and necessary for a timely publication.  If you know of a Z club that is not listed, or find one during this next calendar year, plese send the new club a copy of the registration page so they are included in the '98 directory.  Several new clubs are listed this year thanks to information being mailed out by volunteers.

There are a couple of reasons this edition is late (June release as opposed to the normal April).  Many clubs simply did NOT mail in the form.   Also, the address change of the Windy City Z Club.  The local Post Office here in Illinois did not forward a few registration forms to our new address and they were returned.  I apologize to everyone for the returned forms and the tardiness of this publication on my behalf.  Those Z clubs who did not meet the March 1997 deadline kept the rest of the world waiting.  Shame on you.

In the first edition of the Global Directory in 1994 I listed several clubs as DNR - Did Not Respond.  For 1997 I am using the same idea with slight modifications.  The club will be listed - but next to the entry will be (1996 Information) to let you know that these are old statistics because the Z club did not respond.

Once delivered this directory becomes the property of your Z club.   This original copy should stay with the elected administration of your club.   What your Z club determines to use this directory for is your decision, however, it is meant to be shared with all your club members.  Take it to your meetings and events.  I suggest you pull out the staples, copy this original, and hand it out to as many of your Z club members as possible.  Start your club members writing to a Z (or Zed) pen-pal or adopt a sister Z club somewhere in the world! (Great for stamp collectors!)  I don't own this thing, there is no patent or trademark, but if it is reproduced anywhere, electronically or physically, please give credit where credit is due, ok?  (see inside front cover)

Extra copies of this directory are available for $3.00 (USA funds) each.  The directory was never designed as a profit-making venture and since its inception in 1994 has done just that - lost money.  The $3.00 I've been asking for to help defray costs has been eliminated for 1998.  The 1998 Global Z Club Directory asks for no fees or any donations from your club (please see enclosed advertisement).

New for 1998:  Sometime during 1997 I would like you to plan a 'photo day' with your club.  Group as many members of your club together in one spot or during a club event, take a photograph and send it (35mm or print) with your 1998 Registration Form and I'll include it in the directory for 1998.  This may be the last directory as the 1998 version may be titled the 1998 Global Z Club Yearbook!

I try, I try.  Each year its always interesting to see which name or club I've screwed up with wrong information or name spelling...  It used to be Kolosowski from Canada and the Swiss clubs' officers - let's see what happens this year!

Once again, THANK YOU for responding to my request for information concerning your club.  A hearty welcome to all first time Z clubs in this directory!   By all means - don't forget to send the 1998 registration form on time next year! (March 1998)

Enjoy the 1997 Global Z Club Directory and use it often.  From the Windy City Z Club of Chicago, Illinois, USA, we wish your Z club a great 1997!   See you next March!
